The collision occurred around 8:45 a.m. near Stockton Boulevard. Five people were rushed to the hospital, with four suffering severe injuries. Tragically, one of the injured individuals succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, CHP confirmed.

The westbound lanes of Highway 50 were partially closed for several hours as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. Caltrans later announced that the roadway was reopened, but the crash left a lasting impact on those involved and the community.

Authorities reported no DUI arrests related to the incident, and all parties involved are cooperating with the investigation.

Later on Sunday, a separate crash in the same area caused additional traffic delays. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in that incident, according to CHP online logs.
