The community is reeling after the tragic loss of a beloved grandfather in a hit-and-run accident, leaving his family devastated and searching for answers. Allen Yangkaou Lee, 67, was identified as the victim by the Irvine Police Department. The incident occurred on May 9, around 4:30 p.m., as Allen was driving northbound on Culver Drive towards Trabuco Road in Irvine. Approaching an intersection, another vehicle abruptly turned right against a red light, forcing Allen to swerve to avoid a collision. In the chaotic moment, Allen lost control of his vehicle, leading to a rollover crash. His car collided with various obstacles, including a center median, a tree, and a light pole, before coming to rest on its roof. The suspect, driving a beige Honda Civic, callously fled the scene, leaving Allen in critical condition. Despite the efforts of paramedics, Allen succumbed to his injuries on May 13, leaving behind grieving loved ones. Elaine Lee, Allen's daughter, described him as a kind and caring man who played a vital role in their lives. His sudden and unfair departure has left a profound void in their hearts. Eric Lee, Allen's son, expressed gratitude to the strangers who rushed to Allen's aid after the crash, highlighting their selflessness amidst the chaos. However, their focus now shifts to seeking justice for their beloved patriarch. Allen's family urges anyone with information about the suspect or the vehicle involved to come forward. They hope that by apprehending the perpetrator, they can prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future. The family also appreciates the support of law enforcement, who are diligently working on the case using evidence, including dash cam footage from Allen's car. The suspect's vehicle is described as a 2008-2011 beige Honda Civic with distinctive racing-style decals on the lower doors and red material on the door handles. As they navigate through their grief, Allen's family remains resolute in their pursuit of justice, honoring his memory by advocating for accountability in the face of tragedy. A somber incident unfolded on Monday night along the 710 Freeway in Long Beach, claiming the life of a 15-year-old boy and leaving three other teenagers injured. According to the Long Beach Police Department, the sequence of events began with a report of a stolen Kia Optima around 10 p.m. in the 100 block of Jaymills Avenue. Promptly responding to the call, officers, including LBPD's helicopter unit, endeavored to locate the vehicle, albeit unsuccessfully. Tragically, the stolen Kia collided with a semi-truck on the 710 Freeway near Anaheim Street at approximately 10:25 p.m., erupting into flames, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. Importantly, no police vehicles were pursuing the Kia at the time of the collision. Officers at the scene swiftly intervened, rescuing the four occupants from the engulfing flames. Subsequently, all four were rushed to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. CHP investigators disclosed that the 2020 Kia was under the control of a 15-year-old Long Beach resident, who later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. His identity remains undisclosed at this time. Meanwhile, the three other occupants, comprising two girls aged 13 and 15 from Long Beach, and a 14-year-old boy from Los Angeles, are currently receiving treatment for moderate injuries. The driver of the semi-truck, identified as 22-year-old Alvaro Patino from Paramount, escaped the collision unharmed, according to the CHP. An initial investigation suggests that the 15-year-old driver of the stolen Kia made a sharp turn directly in front of the semi-truck on the 710 Freeway, causing the fatal collision. It appeared that the teen driver was attempting to exit the freeway onto the Anaheim Street off-ramp. At present, it remains uncertain whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. Following the incident, all northbound lanes of the 710 Freeway remained closed for several hours as authorities meticulously examined the scene. On Tuesday afternoon , tragedy struck Rancho Murieta as a fatal accident unfolded along Jackson Road. The California Highway Patrol promptly initiated an investigation into the incident, which occurred just before 4:30 p.m. west of Murieta Parkway. According to authorities, the collision involved three vehicles. Tragically, one individual lost their life in the aftermath. Initial reports from law enforcement suggest that the sequence of events began with a man operating an Acura RDX traveling in the westbound lane. Simultaneously, a Toyota Corolla was approaching from the opposite direction in the eastbound lane. Meanwhile, a third driver was trailing the Corolla in a Toyota Tacoma, also traveling eastbound. The situation quickly escalated when the Acura driver swerved into the opposite lane, directly impacting the Corolla. The force of the collision redirected the Acura, causing it to collide head-on with the Tacoma. Regrettably, the driver of the Acura sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. However, the occupants of the other two vehicles suffered minor to moderate injuries. Law enforcement officials are examining the possibility of alcohol impairment contributing to the accident. As the investigation unfolds, authorities are working diligently to piece together the events leading up to this devastating incident.
