A tragic crash on Highway 118 near Somis and Camarillo claimed the life of one person early in the morning on July 26. The accident happened around 4 a.m. near Price Road and involved only one vehicle. According to Ventura County Fire Department spokesman Andrew Dowd, the vehicle veered off the road and landed in a ditch, striking a power pole in the process. One person died at the scene, while another suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Authorities have not released many details about the crash or the individuals involved. The California Highway Patrol briefly shut down the highway between Price and Aggen roads to respond to the scene and clear the wreckage.
